How~To: De-pot Too Faced Natural Eye Palette

This is by far my favorite palette I own. However, it doesn’t get much love because of the bulky packaging. I store it in a separate drawer in my vanity and because of that, it’s out of site – out of mind. I would also like to take this on trips but again, the packaging prevents me from doing so…until now!

I thought about actually de-potting each individual eye shadow {I still might} and putting it in my Z-palette. Then I thought, wouldn’t it be great to store it “as is” so I could still see the colors and how they are paired up?! Here’s how I did it and what I used.

Items Needed:
1. A small knife with a thin blade {be extra careful with it of course}
2. A palette of some kind to transfer the shadows to {I used my Z-palette. I think these will work best}

Steps:
1. Wedge the knife between the outside edge of the box and the cardboard holding the shadows…

2. Move the knife up and down the edge while gently prying up the cardboard holding the shadows. It should pop out fairly easily since it’s only held in with glue.

3. At this point you have all the shadows out in one piece still in the cardboard. Since it’s a magnetic back, you can now place the whole thing into your Z-palette or you could take out the individual shadows using the same method of prying them up. They will then be in their individual pans ready to place into your palette.

It’s just that easy {my favorite saying from infomercials}! It really was. Depending on your actual palette, they may or may not fit with the cardboard still attached like mine. However, the new “dome” Z-palette will be out June 25th and these are supposed to hold domed shaped items better. From what I can tell, it’s just a deeper well. I actually just received a small palette and I think it’s already the new one. It holds larger shadows more easily.

    I need to do this with my Too Faced palette. I love palettes but the Too Faced ones are super chunky and annoying to store.xoxo,Melissat-g-life.blogspot.com
